Everyone has a right to healthcare
For more than 40 years, Kruispost has been providing healthcare to those outside the mainstream healthcare system. People who are homeless, undocumented or uninsured and therefore have no access to regular basic care. As a medical post in the heart of Amsterdam, we ensure that this vulnerable group receives the care they need.

Our team of (family) doctors, dentists, specialists and receptionists work on a voluntary basis. This allows us to provide professional and adequate basic care, including psychosocial support and trauma therapy. We have extensive experience with the complex issues of the uninsured and offer them a safe place where they are always welcome.

1960
A monastic community was established at Oudezijds 100, where healthcare for the vulnerable was central.
1970
The Binnengasthuis and other hospitals in Amsterdam are disappearing: acute shortage of primary care for poverty-stricken people.
1983
Establishment of Kruispost Foundation to provide care for uninsured and undocumented Amsterdam residents.
1983-2000
Kruispost is growing and developing as a GP clinic for vulnerable Amsterdam residents.
2000-2010
Kruispost expands its services, now including dental care and a limited range of second-line healthcare.
2023
Kruispost has been in existence for 40 years and now performs more than 12,000 consultations a year. Kruispost continues as an independent organization.
Order of Saint John closely involved in Kruispost
The Dutch Order of Saint John is a centuries-old, Christian chivalric order with a strong tradition of caring and assisting vulnerable groups. As one of the co-founders of Kruispost, the order has remained closely involved in providing care to those outside the mainstream care system.
