Frequently Asked Questions

Everyone has a right to health care, even if you are uninsured. Are you an undocumented migrant and in need of medical care? Even if you do not have a legal residence permit, you have a right to health care in the Netherlands.

For all non-emergency care, the point of contact is a general practitioner in your area of residence. Even if you are uninsured and/or undocumented, you have the right to register with a family doctor in your area. Preferably register with the GP where your partner/friend/roommate is also already registered.

Is the family doctor full? Then you find another nearest GP. Cost: the GP will ask you if you can contribute to the cost of care. If you have this ability, please contribute. Don’t have any money? Even then, you are still entitled to care at the family doctor’s office. If the family doctor refuses you care, you or the family doctor can contact us at info@Kruispost.nl

If you can’t manage to register with a regular GP, you can use Kruispost. If you live outside Amsterdam then go to the family doctor near the residence where you stay most often or contact the Red Cross Whatsapp Helpdesk and ask for assistance in finding a family doctor.

In case of emergency, you can go to any hospital or call 112 for an ambulance at the scene. When in doubt, call your family doctor or the Central Emergency Room after 5 p.m. and on weekends 088-0030600.
